This stunning stained glass representation of the world famous Lone Tree of Buttermere in the English Lake District, and has been revamped as part of our ‘Iconic Lakeland’s’ collection and is now created using a combination of tiffany copper foiling, decorative solder overlay and a beautiful zinc border for added strength.
Inspiration for this piece came during a sublime evening swim in Buttermere lake back in 2021. As I was heading back to shore, the silhouette of the tree with the mountains rising behind and the silvery moonshine stopped me mid-stroke and the was magically calming quality of the view just blew me away.
Created using a mix of semi-opaque and streaky glass, the tree is then carefully added using an intricate copper foil overlay and decoratively soldered to provide a raised and textured surface like bark.
An oxidising patina is then applied to all the solder lines and tree, to create the pewter, shadowy lines and finished with a preservative wax to maintain its shine.
Due to the nature of the textured and multi-faceted semi-opaque glass used here, the panel transforms depending on the light source available and is ever changing, much like the Lake District itself!
Measuring 8 x 6 inches and provided with a unique handcrafted ‘live edge’ oak wooden stand.
Due to the outline shape of this design, it has not been created as a hanging piece, and looks beautiful displayed in it's plinth and back lit. A bespoke wooden stand is included with this piece.
However, should you wish to have it as a hanging piece, please contact us using the online form to discuss a bespoke version either as a hexagon or arch.
As each item is made to order, please allow up to 8 weeks from your order before dispatch.
